Fantasy – An Evening of Inspired Music and Art
Thursday, February 16, 2012, 6-9pm, concert at 6:30pm
Bromwell’s Gallery, 117 West 4th street, Cincinnati, OH 45202
Dreams. Fantasy. Myth. Music.
Come in from the cold to Bromwell’s downtown gallery for Constella’s first event of 2012! Cincinnati artist Dan Dutton’s exhibition “Evoked Imaginations” draws from the imaginative elements of Russian Fairy Tales. His fantastic works are the perfect pair for a Constella Trio performance (featuring Tatiana Berman, violin, Yael Senamaud-Cohen, viola and Ilya Finkelshteyn, cello) of music inspired by imaginative storytelling. Bring your Valentine, have a glass of wine from wine sponsor La Poste, and enjoy light bites by food sponsors JimmyG’s (recently rated “best new restaurant in Cincinnati” by Metromix) and Très Belle Cakes – all while supporting the Constella Festival’s 2012 season!
Tickets are only $25 online (or $30 at the door)!

His extraordinarily demanding music left him often unsatisfied with the efforts of live classical musicians, until near the end of his life, when collaborations with Kent Nagano, Pierre Boulez and the Ensemble Modern left us with a legacy of demanding, quirky and fascinating works for chamber ensembles. Our program includes much of this zany ensemble music of Zappa but will also showcase his two main classical influences, Igor Stravinsky and Edgar Varese. Intensely compelled by both composers, one famous story unfolds: During a period as a child, he listened non-stop to the music of Varese. He couldn't figure out why his mother wanted him to move into another room to listen to this music. "But mom, listen to the siren!"
Program to include: G-Spot Tornado, Outrage at Valdez, The Perfect Stranger, Be-Bop Tango, Peaches En Regalia, and more!
